Vaccinations We Offer

Cholera Vaccine

– About Cholera:  A bacterial infection causing severe diarrhoea and dehydration, typically spread through contaminated water.

– Why Vaccinate?  Vaccination reduces the risk of severe illness, especially in areas with limited access to clean water.

– Duration:  Provides protection for up to 2 years. A booster may be needed if traveling to high-risk areas after this period.

Dengue Vaccine

– About Dengue:  A mosquito-borne viral infection causing high fever, severe headache, and joint pain.

– Why Vaccinate?  Vaccination lowers the risk of contracting dengue, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions.

– Duration:  Protection lasts for several years, but booster doses are not routinely recommended.

Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio (DTP) Vaccine

– About Diseases:  Diphtheria affects the throat and nose, tetanus causes muscle stiffness and spasms, and polio can lead to paralysis.

– Why Vaccinate?  The DTP vaccine provides essential protection against these serious diseases, which are still prevalent in some countries.

– Duration:  Booster required every 10 years.

Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Vaccine

– About Diseases:  Highly contagious viral infections causing fever, rash, and complications.

– Why Vaccinate? Prevents these infections, which can lead to serious complications.

– Duration:  Lifelong protection after two doses. No booster required.

Hepatitis A Vaccine

– About Hepatitis A:  A viral liver infection transmitted through contaminated food and water.

– Why Vaccinate?  Provides long-term protection against the virus, common in areas with poor sanitation.

– Duration: Provides protection for at least 25 years after two doses.

Hepatitis B Vaccine

– About Hepatitis B:  A viral infection affecting the liver, spread through blood and bodily fluids.

– Why Vaccinate?  Reduces the risk of chronic liver disease and liver cancer associated with the virus.

– Duration:  Lifelong protection after a full course. No booster required for most people.

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccin

– About Disease: A mosquito-borne viral brain infection prevalent in rural Asia.

– Why Vaccinate?  Crucial for travellers spending extended periods in endemic areas.

– Duration:  Provides protection for at least 1 year. A booster is recommended if risk persists.

Meningitis ACWY Vaccine

– About Disease: A bacterial infection causing inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes.

– Why Vaccinate? Protects against four strains of meningococcal bacteria, essential for travellers to certain regions.

– Duration:  Protection lasts 5 years. A booster is required after this period for ongoing risk.

Rabies Vaccine

– About Rabies:  A viral infection transmitted through animal bites, leading to fatal brain inflammation if untreated.

– Why Vaccinate?  Pre-exposure vaccination is vital for travellers to areas where rabies is common, especially if contact with animals is likely.

–  Duration:  Routine booster doses are not recommended for most travellers. A single booster dose of vaccine can be considered, following a risk assessment, in those who have completed a primary course over one year ago and are travelling again to a high risk (enzootic) area.

Tick-borne Encephalitis Vaccine

– About Disease:  A viral infection transmitted by tick bites, affecting the central nervous system.

– Why Vaccinate?  Recommended for those visiting rural or forested areas in endemic regions.

– Duration:  Protection lasts for 3 years. Booster needed after this period for continued protection.

Typhoid Vaccine

– About Typhoid:  A bacterial infection causing high fever, stomach pain, and weakness, spread through contaminated food and water.

– Why Vaccinate?  Reduces the risk of infection, particularly in areas with poor sanitation.

– Duration:  Lasts for 3 years. Booster recommended after this period if risk remains.
